BP Ford back on top in Turkey
17 June 2008
Mikko Hirvonen put in a stunning drive to take first place in the FIA Rally of Turkey and regain his lead at the top of the Driver's championship.
BP Ford Abu Dhabi team mate Jari-Matti Latvala had to settle for second place despite a fascinating battle between the two Fords.
The result is a landmark for Ford who have become the first manufacturer to score points in 100 consecutive rallies. The scoring run stretches back to Monte Carlo in 2002 where Carlos Sainz and Colin McRae finished third and fourth. In the following years, eleven drivers have racked up the points for Ford, the most prolific of which is in fact the latest winnner, Hirvonen.
